Comma announces 2012 FIA Formula Two Technical Partnership and Driver

16/03/2012

Comma is pleased to announce that it will again in 2012 be Techncial Partnership to the FIA Formula Two and that Luciano Bacheta has been chosen to drive the No 4 car sponsored by Comma Oil & Chemicals.

Luciano Bacheta has been chosen to drive the No 4 car sponsored by Comma Oil & Chemicals in this year's FIA Formula Two Championship. A British Racing Drivers Club 'Rising Star' and former BRDC McLaren 'Autosport' Award nominee, 21 year old Bacheta from Brentwood in Essex had his first promising taste of F2 competition in the Austrian and Italian rounds of the championship last year, and is returning to mount a full challenge in 2012.

Making the announcement, Comma Sales & Marketing Director, Mike Bewsey said: "We are delighted to continue as Technical Partner to the FIA Formula Two Championship in 2012, and that the Comma car will be driven for us by Luciano Bacheta. First and foremost, our motorsport programmes are a way of demonstrating product quality, but we also relish being in a position to help some of the best British up-and-coming motorsport talent break through onto the international platform that F2 provides. We were extremely impressed with Luchi's performance when he joined F2 at the end of the 2011 season, and we predict that he will have a very, very good year. Naturally, as the sole supplier of lubricants and chemicals to the entire F2 fleet, we wish all of the drivers the best for a fast, safe and exciting season, but it would be fair to say we might be cheering ever so slightly louder for Luchi!"

Bacheta said: "I'm really excited to be competing in F2 and proud to be representing Comma. Last year, I contested four races and enjoyed every one, so it's great to be running a full campaign in 2012.

Although I know the competition is going to be tough, especially from experienced F2 drivers returning to the championship, my aim is to be racing and carrying Comma's colours at the front, and of course I would love to get my hands on the championship winner's Williams F1 test prize."

The FIA Formula Two Championship begins at Silverstone on the weekend of April 14th/15th, and thereafter visits Algarve (Portugal), Nurburgring (Germany), Spa Francorchamps (Belgium), Brands Hatch (UK), Paul Ricard (France) and Hungaroring (Hungary) before culminating at Monza (Italy) on September 29th/30th. Reports on all races in the series will be posted on Comma website at www.commaoil.com/media

With pre and post-race interviews and features, Motors TV will screen live coverage of all sixteen races in the championship. You can also visit www.formulatwo.com for live streaming of every Formula Two event, plus a wealth of background stories on the drivers and other essential features to keep you fully informed on the championship.
